Bengaluru: Four firms in race to supply 318 coaches for Pink Line, ORR-KIA Metro corridors

Four rolling-stock firms are in race to supply 318 coaches for Outer Ring Road-Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Metro corridor and Pink Line (Kalena Agrahara -Nagawara) corridors.

BENGALURU: Four rolling-stock firms are in race to supply 318 coaches for Outer Ring Road-Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Metro corridor and Pink Line (Kalena Agrahara -Nagawara) corridors.Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) sources said four firms — Alstom, CAF (Spain), BEML Ltd and Titagarh Wagon Limited — participated in the bid. Of the 318 coaches, 16 six-car train sets (96 coaches) will be for Pink Line, 16 six-car sets (96 coaches) for ORR (Central Silk Board - KR Puram), 21 six-car sets (126 cars) for Airport Metro (KR Puram-KIA).In September 2022, BMRCL invited a tender for design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 318 standard gauge Metro cars and training of personnel including comprehensive maintenance up to 15 years. The tender was supposed to be finalized in December, 2022 but it was delayed due to various reasons.
